The Grove Park Inn and Gingerbread Houses

OOPS, Forgot to put these pics on. I am losing my mind!!! Just when I think I have it alltogether. Ha Ha!! Hope you enjoy the pics. A little note. They have a Gingerbread House Contest each year and people submit them from all over. The winners usually end up being shown on Good Morning America each year. It was fun to look at them and realize all the hard work that went into making each one.

Kaitlyn's 4th Birthday and Thanksgiving Day!

Wow, we got back home and then we celebrated Kaitlyn's 4th birthday which happened while we were in Maine. She was so excited and now can't wait to turn 5. I tried to tell her to relax and enjoy being 4 but I don't think she understood the logic of what I was telling her. I'm also including a family pic of the grandkids in NC for everyone to see. On Thanksgiving Day we went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. (That is non conventional isn't it?). Then we went to the Grove Park Inn in Asheville to view all the Christmas decorations. Then last but not least we went to Steve's work and had a wonderful Turkey dinner with all the trimmings. It was scrumptious. Now I think I am caught up for now and next will come Christmas. My oh My the time does pass fast doesn't it???

Elisabeth's 16th Birthday in Maine

We no sooner got back to N.C. and it was time to go to Maine. We flew out the end of Oct. for 3 weeks. We packed a lot into those 3 weeks. There were horse shows, Mission Conferences, Special Celebration of Calvary Baptist's 4th anniversary, a 16th birthday to celebrate and mandy more good times with family and friends. Maine is indeed special to our hearts and to be able to go and listen to my "Favorite Preacher". WOW! I could be a little prejudiced!!!Hope you enjoy just a few photos. The date on my camera is off so ignore that. I have just purchased a new one which seems to be doing good and taking great pics.

Family Reunion in Fla.

I have been rather lazy about getting some new pics on the blog so I am going to try and catch you up to now starting first with the Family Reunion for the Bells in Fla. Grandma Bell is in her 80's. We had a good week with her and then on the way home went to the Reunion in N.Fla.

The Mountain State Fair

Oh my we had a great time at the fair. Micah and Kaitlyn rode rides and we ate some good food. The animals were cute to look at. Some of the most beautiful horses. It was a great fair this year. Smoky the Bear knew Kaitlyn and Micah's names and talked to them. Now how did he do that?? Kaitlyn rode a ride and was scared to death. We could hardly get her on anything else. Pretty funny but not to her. I think Micah will be ready for the bigger rides next year. Then Mom will have to ride with him. Uncle Steve doesn't like rides. You know I don't like too many either. I will ride a few with him though. I even rode the elephant with Kaitlyn. You know, like Dumbo!! Pretty funny sight I imagine.

Saturday was car show day

Saturday was a great day to go to a Car Show. We went to a small town nearby called Brevard for a few hours. It was lots of fun. Looked at the cars and then I checked out the shops while Papaw talked to people about his car. It was very hot! Around 85. Then we headed back home and on the way back stopped to look at some campers. Then we ate at the J&S cafeteria which was good too. All in all a good day. If I had remembered my camera I would have had some cute pics to post. Tomorrow is Labor Day and we have the big Labor Day Parade so I should get some good pics there. We're doing a cookout after and maybe the grandkids will take in a few rides. Until tomorrow-----------------Grandma

Rocky likes to be close and protect Kaitlyn. Couldn't resist taking this pic. Isn't it cute. They are both napping. Except Rocky opened his eyes to see what I was doing. Pretty funny.

Fun Day at Grandma and Papaw's

A fun day at Nana and Papaw's

It was a fun night and a fun day today spending time with Kaitlyn. 3 must be the magic number. She is sooo cute and fun to be with. Into Barbie's and dolls and she rode her new bike today we got at a yard sale for almost nothing. We had lunch at McDonald's because the weather has been so bad with all the rain (Praise the Lord for it) We wanted to go to the park but too wet. Just hung out at the house and played. Rocky was glad she was there. Hope I can get the pics on the site right. Ha Ha.

Pigeon Forge

We had a wonderful couple of days in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. Of course I forgot my camera and we always make a picture at the Gazebo at the Apple Barn. How forgetful I am. Oh well. I am sure we will go back someday. Seemed funny to be there just Papaw and me but we did enjoy ourselves a lot. We ate some wonderful food and Papaw went to the Bass Pro Shop and lots of tool places so I didn't torment him too much with all my shopping. We made it home about 6:30 today and it is good to be back home. I have been reading a new book since I got back home. I can read these books in a day and they are so good. They are about the Amish and they are a new author I hadn't read. I have read so much my eyes are crossed. Ha Ha. Well that's all that is new at Grandma and Papaw's. I must ask my granddaughter how to post a pic on this blog. She makes it look so easy. More talk later---------Grandma

A nice Friday

Well it has been a great day at home after working the last 3 days. And don't you know it they called me this afternoon to come in. I had to turn them down because I was making pickles and going to get my hair cut and then Micah and Kaitlyn were coming later today. I also had a house that needed some attention today to. So I plan to take it nice and easy this evening. Hey the big Mater Fest is in Canton this weekend. It will be a little home town fun to take the grandkids to. Well I'll sign off. That's all I know. Kind of boring isn't it!! Maybe I can get some pics on here so you can see what's going on. Until later---------------Grandma

Saturday, July 26, 2008

Well my granddaughter Elisabeth talked me into doing a blog. I guess I'm not too old to learn new things. I will probably be talking a lot about all my grandchildren. I have 7 of them and they are all great kids. Of course I could also be a little prejudiced. You will meet them all by way of pics and stories and keep up with the news from Grandma and Papaw. Bear with me while I get going with this
